Woodlupine Primary School is located in Forrestfield and caters for students in Kindergarten to Year 6.
The school motto Learning through life is embedded in our approach to learning and teaching and we hold true to a core belief that every child can experience success. Positive values and a good attitude to learning are promoted through our whole school delivery of PATHS, (Promoting Alternative Thinking Strategies) from Kindergarten to Year 6. Our interpersonal relationships are kept positive and rewarding by whole school use of Restorative Practices. Through engagement with restorative processes we have encouraged a culture based upon trust, mutual respect and regard for the rights and diversity of others in our community.
Woodlupine has loyal, enthusiastic and dedicated staff that ensure the learning environment is both dynamic and conducive to the needs of all students. Lessons well planned and delivered through explicit instruction and the ISTAR approach. Positive relationships with parents are encouraged and teachers make themselves readily available to discuss student performance. Translators are provided for parents from non-English speaking backgrounds to support effective communication and forge constructive home /school relationships.
Facilities across the school include air conditioned and gas heated classrooms, an Early Childhood Centre, a large fenced oval, cricket pitch, basketball and netball courts and four playgrounds. There is also a large parcel of fenced bushland in our grounds which children use for adventure play.
Our staff are empowered to take school leadership roles relating to student learning, whole school management, and staff development. The school provides specialist teachers in Physical Education, Literacy and Music, and Scitech provides the Science After School Program. Purpose built learning centres include a Science, Art, Library and Music rooms. Our sustainability project teaches our students that they are all stewards of the environment and children are encouraged to experience the vegetable gardens, orchard, frog pond and chicken run.
The school is supported by an extremely active P&C and an energetic and professional School Board. Woodlupine Primary has good strong partnerships with local community groups, and we are tireless supporters of our Cambodian Sister School, and the Christmas in a Shoebox Appeal which with other charitable deeds promote a 'generosity of spirit' in our school community.
Whilst the school celebrates its successes it also strives for continual improvement to ensure Woodlupine remains a school of first choice within the community and continues to maintain a friendly, caring and happy atmosphere.
